HOW IT WORKS
Ever heard of geocache—where you use your GPS to hunt for real life hidden treasures? We took that idea and created our very own Sly Fox version in celebration of our brand new IPA called Coastal Quest!
- To get started, go to the GeoQuest home page and create an account.
- On the homepage, you’ll be presented with the quests that are geographically closest to your location.
Note: users will be asked to grant GPS access to the webpage.

- Quests will each have a coin value and level of difficulty assigned to them. The more challenging or obscure the quest, the higher coin value there will be!
- OK so you’re at the quest location… now what? Click the Open Quest button, read your clue, and find the object or item that the clue is directing you to. Click the “Click to Open Camera” button on your screen, snap your photo, and click “Submit Photo”.
Note: users will need to grant camera access in order to take the photo.
- Once your submitted photo is verified by our team, then the GeoQuest coins will hit your account! You’ll be able to check your account balance right on the home screen. We’re working on an email notification, as well.

Coins will enable you to enter to win prizes that will be drawn throughout the coming months. Prizes will range from gift cards to our pubs and partner retailers, to Sly Fox swag, to other adventure-themed items. When we have a new prize drawing coming up, we’ll post the info on this website.

The best part… OUR GRAND PRIZE IS A WEEK-LONG STAY ON THE OREGON COAST! Remember… the more coins you collect over the course of the GeoQuest, the more chances you have to win.

- You must 21 years of age or older to participate in the GeoQuest and to be eligible to win any prizes.

Do I need to download an app?
Nope, our GeoQuest will be hosted on a website, accessible by any web browser you’d like.
Why are Quest Coins important?
Users will want to collect as many Quest Coins as they can to increase their chances of winning prizes throughout the next several months, including the grand prize of a week-long stay on the Oregon coast!
In short, the more quests you complete, the more points you get. The more points you get, the more chances you have to win!

Will spending my Quest Coins on chances on prizes throughout the year negatively affect my chances to win the grand prize?
Nope, don’t sweat it! Chances to win the grand prize will be based on cumulative Quest Coins earned throughout the entire length of the contest—not on your remaining balance.
Is the grand prize the only prize?
No, we will be doing drawings for Sly Fox and Coastal Quest-themed swag, gift cards, and fun, adventure-related items throughout the year! Use the Quest Coins you’ve collected to purchase chances to win.
Do I need to buy Coastal Quest or Sly Fox beer to complete my quest?
No purchases are necessary to win. But of course, we’d highly recommend trying out our delicious, new West Coast-style IPA if you can!
When will the grand prize winner be announced?
The grand prize drawing date will be sometime before October 1, 2025. We’ll provide an update as soon as we have determined a date. In the meantime, keep collecting those quest points!

Question: Is GeoQuest secure?
We take your security very seriously and have implemented several layers of protection to keep your data safe, including but not limited to:
Secure Login:
We use industry-standard encryption methods to protect your login credentials. Your password is securely hashed using a strong cryptographic algorithm before being stored in our database, ensuring that even in the unlikely event of a breach, your password remains protected.
Transport Layer Security (TLS):
All communication between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS, powered by TLS (Transport Layer Security). This means that any data you send or receive, including your login credentials and any photos or location data, is encrypted in transit, preventing unauthorized parties from intercepting your information.
Database Encryption:
We encrypt sensitive information stored in our database, such as your email address, phone number, and other personal details. This encryption ensures that even if someone gained access to the database, they wouldn’t be able to read your data without the decryption keys.
Controlled Data Access:
We only store your GPS coordinates when you explicitly submit a photo as part of a quest, in order to verify your completion of the quest at its designated location. When visiting the homepage your location is securely temporarily accessed to determine your distance from quest locations, but this is not stored.
Similarly, we only receive photos that you explicitly choose to upload. These photos are securely stored on our servers using unique identifiers to ensure privacy and prevent unauthorized access. Your camera is only accessed when you go to submit a quest.
By combining these measures, we ensure that your interactions with the GeoQuest App are secure.
